Being offered for sale is the vintage FINGER-JOINTED WOODED STORAGE BOX (originally held "Telescope Binoculars"
(which are NOT included))
by "HIKARI HONKO OPTICAL SEIKI SEISAKUSHO CO., LTD" (as per 'Google Translate')
, from circa the mid 20th century (best guess - company founded in 1946)
, as seen in the pictures/as described in the title. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR IMPORTANT CONDITION NOTES
. Being offered for sale AS-FOUND, uncleaned. May require a thorough detailing to bring to its full potential. SATISFACTION GUARANTEED or your money back...no questions asked! Very Good vintage condition with minor -to- moderate overall wear (i.e. dings, dents, scuffs, scratches, stains, etc. and mild finger-joint separation throughout) but re mains fairly structurally rigid & mildly strong (approaching the fragile side but unless you plan to store anvils in it, you shouldn't have a problem) . Approx. 3" wide chunk of lid rim is missing (right side of front - see red arrow in 8th pic) . One of the two hinges is missing (1) of its (3) screws (2 remain - see red arrow in 5th pic). Both turn-hook latches present and operational. Hinges are a little worn/loose from years of supporting the weight of the open lid (it should have been designed & constructed with a chain to take said weight) but are still holding strong. Features original vinyl (we think) nameplate/manufacturers tag at front (see 3rd pic for partial translation) and original paper label at underside of lid. Outstanding, rich patina throughout. Very atypical, unusual & interesting old box!! See pics.
