Small Brass Antique Telescope by Tower Fine Optics This small spyglass is in very good functional condition and was made by the French firm Tower Fine Optics during the period between WWI to WWII . Most telescope produced during this period had no makers mark; however, this firm was almost certainly marketing based on the claim of superior optics. The 10-23 designation inscribed below Tower Fine Optics indicates a magnification of 10X and an objective lens 23 mm (~7/8 inch) in diameter. The telescope forms a clear sharp image and focuses very precisely when the smallest tube is moved to the appropriate postion. Mechanically the scope works well as the draws have no significant dings and open appropriately. This telescope has a stronger more robust construction than most similar scopes from the period. The telescope is about 5 inches long when folded, about 14 1/2 inches long when fully extended and has an objective lens with a diameter of about 7/8ths of an inch. It can be dissembled for cleaning if that should become necessary. A second more complete telescope of the exact same model is separately listed. Be sure to examine the images as they form an important part of the description. Although shipping is listed as economy, items will generally be shipped priority if costs are comparable. I will consider sending the telescope to restricted countries if a buyer seems responsible and assumes shipping risks. Good Cheap Book (search): Henry C King. History of the Telescope
